Special Features of the Project:  

The Project is situated in Mugu District of Karnali Zone in Mid-western Development region of Nepal. Geographical location of the Project area varies from latitude 82°10′ to 82°10.80 N  to longitude 29°10.8  to 29°31.50′ E. The elevation of Intake site is 2000 M AMSL. No motorable road was connected to any part of the district, hence all the material and equipment was transported by air lifting from the nearby towns Nepalgunj and or from Surkhet the  headquarters of the Development region. Gamgad Khole (River) is a small tributary of Mugu Karnali River near Rara lake. The River is flowing from South to North with an avg. gradient of about 1:10. Catchment area is 95 Sq.Km. The maximum altitude of the basin is 4340 m AMSL.    

Project Highlights:
Comprises of 4 m long Diversion Weir & Intake Structure (Inlet), (low diversion wire of 4.0 mtr.ht.x 16 m length with a MS trash rack 2.5 m x 1.0 m to pass a Design discharge of 0.68 Cu.m. /sec.; A single chamber 5 mtr. Long x 1.0 mtr. 1.0 mtr. Chamber width Gravel Trap; A single chamber 24 mtr. x 2.05 mtr. RCC Desilting basin; 1755 mtr. Long Stone masonry RCC covered rectangular + 2 x 600 mm ND MS Pipe (250 mtr. Long) Headrace Canal (headrace level 1996.6m amsl); A rectangular shape CC/Stone masonry Fore bay 15 mtr. Long x 4.5 mtr. wide with a storage capacity of 135 cu.m. and 186 mtr. Long lateral spillway; 2×600 mm dia. x 171 mtr. length MS Penstock Pipe Line, Surface type made of  RCC and Stone masonry Powerhouse with an internal dimensions of 16 m x 9m x 4 m (LxBxH) equipped with  two turbines, synchronous generators, governor, control panels protection board battery cubical and the inlet valves; Switchyard and Tailrace Canal ) tailrace level 1913.5m amsl.

Each 2 sets of : 210.5 kW Hydraulic Turbines; Speed Governor; 200 kW, 400V, 3Ph.50Hz, Brushless AC exciter  Generators; 48 V DC 100 AH ni-cd Battery and Battery Charger; Low Tension Panel (for Generator, Line control & Synchronizing); Inlet valves; Lighting including AC & DC Panels and Distribution boards; Earthing work; 0.415/11 kV, 3 Ph,250 kVA step-up Transformer (Yyn Vector  group) and Material and works for Outdoor 11 kV Switchyard.

57.5 Km long 11 kV Transmission line with 11 m B26 type Steel Telescopic poles; 0.03 sq.in. ACSR ‘Weasel’ Conductor; Hardware and Insulators etc. complete and 25.5 Km long 0.415 kV Distribution line with 9 & 10 mtr. B14 type Steel Telescopic poles; 0.05 sq.in ACSR ‘Rabbit’ Conductor; Hardware & Insulators; 10 Nos .x 11/0.4 kV, 3 Ph Step down Transformers 25 kVA  etc. Complete
